Our Salvation Experience
Tony was a police officer for 16 years in Indiana before the Lord called him to Missions. We were invited to a Revival at Calvary Baptist Church in Linton, Indiana by a cousin who knocked on our door and invited us to be his guest. He had been in a local motorcycle gang, but had accepted Christ and wanted to share his experience with us. Because of his appoach, concern, and love that he showed toward us, we accepted his invitation to revival. During the revival we realized we were lost and sinners as explained in Romans 3:23 and that we had sinned against a just and righteous God, had inherited the sin nature through Adam & Eve and deserved death because of our sin as described in Romans 5:12. After realizing we must repent of our sin as described in Acts 17:30b and Luke 13:3 we repented of our sin and trusted Jesus Christ by faith to save us. We realized that salvation was a free gift and we could do nothing to merit salvation on our own, as described in Ephesians 2:8,9.
We both were born again by faith in Christ and our lives changed as described in 2 Corinthians 5:17. We also realized that we didn't have to doubt but could have definite assurance that if we died we were going to Heaven. After our salvation we allowed the Holy Spirit that lived within us to guide and direct our lives.
Our Call to the Ministry
God used different circumstances to call us to the ministry. First, we saw some national pastors during a conference sharing their burdens and concern for their people and countries. There were nationals from Africa, India, Jamaica, and Haiti. The Lord began to plant seeds in our hearts concerning missions. Second, the Missionary Evangelist (Lon Springer) shared his ministry of mission trips to various countries. Tony's first trip was with Bro. Springer to the country of Haiti. God began to water the spiritual seeds in the area of missions. God then used a mission trip to Jamaica to speak to Kim's heart in the area of missions and it was during that trip that we felt the Lord calling us to full time service in the area of missions.
We surrendered to full time service on August 23, 1992. After graduating from Heritage Baptist University we were commissioned by our home church (Calvary Baptist Church) on November 15, 1998 and arrived in Haiti in December of 1998.
Our Goals & Accomplishments
The Lord has allowed us to accomplish much since our arrival in Haiti. We planted Calvary Baptist Church in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in February of 2002. The same year we also began Calvary Baptist School of Theology. We have graduated a total of 16 students since our first class graduated in 2007. Several of the students have started new churches in Haiti.
We turned the church over to one of our first converts, who was in our first class of graduates, who we ordained as our first Pastor. Paul Augustin served as assistant Pastor for three years and took the baton as the Shepherd of the flock in January of 2009. We have had the opportunity to train disciple, evanglize, and educate others to take the ministry which is Biblical Church Planting. In June of 2010 we began Calvary Baptist Haiti Missions which is recognized by the Haitian Government as a ministry with the local church that we began. We continue to work in the area of Church Planting, Bible Training, Discipleship, Evangelism, Vocational Training, and raising funds to help students plant new churches.
As Director and President I will be working with Pastor Paul to promote the ministries of Calvary Baptist Church working in the same goals of ministry since our arrival.
